I create indie rock and pop music under the name NICR — short for “nicer.” For me, that word captures what I want my music to be: friendly, warm, and accessible. Music that feels human. I’ve always been drawn to melody and atmosphere rather than complexity. My songs are built from simple structures, often starting with a rhythm from a drum machine or a few chords on the piano. From there, guitars, strings, and sometimes a touch of brass help shape the sound into something that feels both nostalgic and new. The 1980s had a huge impact on me — I lived through that decade and still see it as one of the most inspiring times in music. That influence is never far away in what I do: the textures, the melancholy, the sense of space and emotion. I like to think of my tracks as small stories, or quiet moments turned into sound. Whether it’s an upbeat indie rock track or a soft ballad, my goal is always the same — to make music that connects on a personal level. NICR is about being a little nicer — not just in name, but in feeling. It’s pop music that welcomes you in.
